Chapter 33 – When Your Cup Overflows

In January of last year I published my first art book.  This book is a collection of my doodle art and watercolor paintings.  With each painting I have told a story from my life and/or personal experience from my journey on being an artist.  I’m excited to share with you one chapter from my book.  This week is Chapter Number 33 – “Whenever Your Cup Overflows”.

Image: When your cup overflows

My inspiration for this painting came from the poem, “Drinking From My Saucer” by John Paul Moore.

This is a beautiful poem which I highly recommend for everyone to read.

The poet talks about realizing and seeing all the blessings that we have been bestowed as though they have filled the cup and runs over into the saucer.

This is my personal reminder to always count my blessing and feel gratitude for everything that I have and will receive.

Drinking From My Saucer

by:  John Paul Moore

I’ve never made a fortune and it’s probably too late now,

But I don’t worry about that much ’cause I’m happy anyhow.

And as I go along life’s way I’m reaping better than I sow,

I’m drinking from my saucer ’cause my cup has overflowed.

Haven’t got a lot of riches and sometimes the going’s tough,

But I’ve got loving ones around me and that makes me rich enough.

I thank God for his blessings and the mercies He’s bestowed,

I’m drinking from my saucer ’cause my cup has overflowed.

Oh, remember times when things went wrong my faith wore somewhat thin,

But all at once the dark clouds broke and sun peeped through again.

So Lord, help me not to gripe about the tough rows that I’ve hoed,

I’m drinking from my saucer cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage when the way grows steep and rough,

I’ll not ask for other blessings ’cause I’m already blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy to help others bear their loads,

Then I’ll keep drinking from my saucer ’cause my cup has overflowed.
