Find Your Joy

Imaqe: Find Your Joy

Spring has arrived and all the flowers and trees are in bloom.  Our landscapes are turning from drab brown to luscious greens accented with pops of colors from all the beautiful flowers in bloom.

This has been a super exciting time for me.  On the heels of my Carnivale fabric collection being release and then having a second printing, Lowes Home Improvement has just release a garden flag with my artwork “Find Your Joy”.

This was one of my first mixed media pieces of art and one that I have always loved.  I was delighted when Lowes wanted to create a garden flag.

The flag turned out to be such a beauty!  They created a premium flag by adding embroidery applique around the large leaves and bottom purple flower.

Now you can add a positive reminder to your lawn or garden with gorgeous flag that will remind you to “Find You Joy”.  It is important for us to all know what brings us joy.  It is through that joy that we each find our true happiness.

Dare to Dream – Artist Spotlight

You may (or may not) have noticed that last month I took a bit of a “blog break”. It wasn’t really intentional on my part, it was just that I was involved in so many different projects all at once that my blogging time just seemed to have vanished in thin air.

One of the things that has happened during this time is the honor that was bestowed on me when Art Licensing Show featured me in their blog in the artist spotlight article. This is a lovely article with more on my background and a little about how I got to where I am today. If you would like to read the article, click here.

Along with all the work I have been doing on my art licensing, I have also been working on my mission and all that consist of. As with any business, mine is always changing and evolving as it grows. Over the next few weeks and months you will probably be seeing some changes to my website along with all the things attached to it.

Something else that is going through some major renovations is my Debi Payne Designs Zazzle Stores. I have been rearranging products, cleaning out old designs and adding new product designs. I will be talking more about this in the future.

Although there are many changes in progress, with even more to come soon, I am happy to say that the only change in my message is that it is becoming even stronger.

Image: Affirming a positive life day by deyIt seems like when I start thinking about how long my journey has been, I realize that it has just begun. I have experienced many bumps and bruises along with several stall outs and even a couple very ungraceful falls flat on my face. But each time I have managed to somehow pick myself up, dust myself off and take another step forward.

The future is looking very bright for Debi Payne Designs and I hope you will continue to join me on this fabulous, crazy, wild journey and hopefully I will be able to shed a little bit of sunshine on your day.

Life is Full of Possibilities

At the beginning of this year I published my first art book. This book is a collection of my watercolor paintings accompanied by a story from my life and personal experience from my journey on being an artist. I’m excited to share this with you over the next year.

This is the second chapter in my book “Don’t Give Up!” – An Artist’s Journey.

Life is full of possibilities painting

Possibilities, Choices, Options… they are all the same thing and life is really full of them.

When we were hit with the ‘great recession’ and I suddenly found myself without a job, it took me maybe all of five minutes to get over my grief of losing a job that I so dearly loved. This was because all I could see were possibilities.

I knew this was an opportunity to take my art to the next level. However, there were so many possibilities to make that happen and it was time to look at all of them and decide on which path I wanted to take.

Questions such as: Did I want to go with the gallery route or did I want to go the licensing route were options I had to consider. Both had their advantages as well as their disadvantages.  I had already started in the gallery route and in the economic climate at the time galleries were really struggling.

Since I hadn’t pursued the art licensing route, I thought that might be a fun avenue to explore.  Therefore, I began my adventure in art licensing.  I also know there are still so many more pathways for my art to travel that I am looking forward to and can’t wait to see what route I take next.
