Why is it so difficult for people to just be kind to one another? As I sat down to write this blog post I immediately found myself becoming irritated and upset. It seemed like all I could think about was all the fussing, complaining and arguing that I am seeing among so many these days. I knew that was the last thing that I wanted to write about, but that is all I could think of.
Our world seems to filled with so much hatred these days and it is really making me so sad. Why are we fighting so much? Why are so many saying such mean things about one another?
It seems like so many people are picking and choosing who they are kind to based on how much they like the person. How can we turn this around?
We all know what kindness is. We recognize it when someone shows us kindness and we know what it feels like when we express kindness to someone else. So, this isn’t some strange concept that we aren’t familiar with, yet here we are in a world filled with so much hate, arguing and fighting.
What can we do to turn all this hatred into kindness? One way we turn this hatred into kindness would be to stop judging one another. I am seeing a lot of judgement going on these days. It is like, ‘if you don’t believe the way I do and you don’t agree with what I am saying, I am going to withhold my kindness from you.’ At what point did that become not only acceptable but the norm?
Being kind really isn’t a difficult thing to do. I believe that the kinder a person is, the happier they are. Some may say it is easy to be kind when you are happy, but I believe that one’s happiness comes from their kindness.
Today, let your goal be to spread kindness in as many ways and to as many people as you can.
