“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, ‘WOW . . . What a ride!”
As 2013 comes to a close, and what a ride is truly was, now it is time to reflect on the year. It is a time to reflect on the blessings of the year that have brought us joy and happiness. It is also a time to reflect on the lessons learned from the challenges that we had to face. In both cases, be it a blessing or a lesson learned, each has brought us a step closer to our goals and I have enormous gratitude for both.
“Cheers” is a design that I created several years ago. I first started with this wacky shaped glass. The glass represented my life. It isn’t like more other glasses. The top is tilted and the stem is crooked. It isn’t at perfect and not at all typical.
The “stuff” on the inside of the glass, (which some might see as a beverage) represents all the different things in my life. Like most people, there is a multitude of things that make up my life which has been represented by the different colors and shapes. I suppose if I just had one element to my life, then I could have used a solid color to represent the beverage.
I wanted to have an olive on the end of a swizzle stick. However, the olive turned into a funny looking eye. This is also what gave this design its alternate name; “Cockeyed Optimist”.
As we say goodbye to 2013, I raise my glass and say “Cheers!” I bid you a fond farewell as I await the arrival of 2014. I take with me into 2014 all the gifts that 2013 has given me. Like the photographs taken throughout the year, I carefully preserve you and loving place you in the memory books.
