I have a friend that is always talking about her childhood. She talks about how mistreated she was and how bad she always felt. Every once in a while, she will recall a happy memory of when she was a child. One day I asked her why she didn’t just let go of all that bad stuff and hang on to all the good stuff. After several seconds of her looking at me like I as was an alien from outer space she said, “I can’t”.
Do you have something that you are holding onto from your past that you can’t seem to let go of? Do you realize that by your continuing to hold on to these thoughts YOU are the one that is continuing to hurt yourself? Why not be kind to yourself and let those thoughts go. All it takes is a decision to do so. Forgive the person that has hurt you, (even if that person is yourself), and move on.
Make The Life That You Want
We all know that we can’t change the past and what we have been through, however, choosing to move away from the hurtful, painful thoughts and remember the pleasant, happy thoughts we can free ourselves and move into a more peaceful and calm life. Figure out if the hurtful thoughts are serving you any purpose. If they aren’t, why are you holding on to them? That is kind of like hanging on to clothes that you wore 10 years and don’t fit anymore. They aren’t serving you in any way today and they are just taking up space in your closet. Why not clean them out and let them go? The choice is yours and you really can make your life what you want it to be.
Everything has something good in it. I hope that you will find the good in everything that you see and do today.
